Stop jacking up the price of gas whenever there is a holiday where people travel. Do you know how bad that makes you look? Restaurants don’t raise the prices of food at meal times when people are hungry. And while we are on the subject, stop fracking and cracking… stop drilling and spilling and killing. Oh, whatever, you are just going to do what you do. It is too bad that corporations want us to think of them as people, but they often choose to be the worst kinds of people they can be… greedy, irresponsible, short-sighted assholes.

Oil companies are not the only ones – during times of high demand hotels raise their rates, airlines raise their rates or don’t put on any seat sales, etc., etc.
Yeah, I thought of a few others as well… but still.
I agree with you on all that stuff about corporations, they are bullies! I have to say though that gas prices here keep going down. Hmmmm.
good luck with that
I read an article in a large and powerful business magazine where they accepted the assumption that a company was an entity and then had psychologists analyze company behaviour to determine personality type. ha! If companies were people, they would be such raging psychopaths, that they would lilely be imprisioned. Didn’t turn out well. A more in-depth analysis that included the executives of very suiccessful companies found that there was a far higher percentage of sociopaths as executives than there is in the general population.
It kind of makes one wonder what we have created and what we worship and aspire to, doesn’t it? There is a wonderful line from a book that I read (i can’t quite remember the title) about spies where the situation ends badly and one of the operators comments: ” We gave them the power of God and it was not ours to give.” That’s about how it feels with respect to large companies. No accountability.
My sci fi series has me end up running the largest human/alien trans-universal corporation in the history of ever which was evil until I took it over… and I solve the energy crises… and end pollution… and save the endangered species… between battling alien space pirates, alien assassins in tie dye, and an invasion from another dimension… and stuff…
Do we really need to keep pumping out of the ground, diesel-electric like the train engines… It only took greed one-hundred and twenty years to place these type of engines in cars..
exactly
You tell ’em Art. No doubt they feel bad and full of shame for their greediness and will roll back prices immediately.
I tried to give them a tongue lashing and all I ended up with was a bad taste in my mouth.
So get a horse – then you only have to feed and house it.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist – and I’m surprised no one else said it first.)
I would love to have a horse.
Me, too. The closest I ever got was Riggsie, the big black German Shepherd. Standing on his hind feet, he was nearly a foot taller than me. Kinda hard to firmly say “Sit!” while looking UP at the dog.
How did we end up talking about dogs on the oil company rant post??? And we should be doing all of this on the record-breaking comment post.
From oil companies to cars to horses to dogs. And you’re probably right.
I am trying to get to 33,333 comments today… I better do a post… hold on.
I never know how to feel when your rants don’t involve things like how the talking ice plants from Valotu-9 drink too much and cheat at poker.
I know… I try not to let reality intrude into what I do here, but the crack squirrels get ticked off about stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked it. It was both funny ha-ha AND funny true…which makes me think you gots the devil inside you. Might be prudent to swing by your local mystic for a tune up.
Tune up… ha! Irony…
The gas price usually goes up on Thursday. So it may get worse.
I started thinking about when I heard on the radio this morning that prices in San Diego went down 1/2 of a cent last night.
Wow, half a cent. That will surely make the difference.
But that doesn’t mean at every gas pump… and not at the same time… it is all so confusing…
This isn’t a game that we are equipped to win, sir. Good luck finding some cheap gas.
Someday, all the oil will be gone and they will put themselves out of business…
Perfect post, witty!
thank you
Not to mention the fact that they jack up the price of oil heat in the winter …
weasels!
Snakes.
varmints
Dogs! Oh wait, I like dogs.
but do they like you
They love me. All of them. You can have the ones in the west, I get the ones in the east.
That seems fair.
Ugh don’t get me started. 😦
ok
