You know when cops do that ’round robin’ thing…

You know… they turn on their lights and start swerving back and forth on the freeway, slowing down and bringing all traffic to a halt. It usually means something bad has happened farther up the road. Mollie and I were driving on the freeway today, and a Highway Patrol SUV started to do that… right behind us.

At first, I thought for a brief moment that I was being pulled over. But then he started in with the slowing and the swerving. So I kept driving, as did the other drivers who were ahead of the police vehicle. And the thing is… you knew there was going to be a thing… we never saw any kind of emergency on the freeway. Nothing at all.

So what was that all about?

Maybe there was going to be a check point set up behind you somewhere? We don’t have the kind of freeways you do, so I don’t have a good answer.

Who knows. I’ve had that happen to me before, when they started a traffic break right behind me and never ran into any sort of emergency. It could be they just wanted to slow down traffic for a bit, or it could be some maintenance was going to be done and they needed to break up the flow for a few minutes. It’s hard to know.

  4. Maybe he got bored and wanted some entertainment?

  5. Well I’m glad that whatever the thing was or wasn’t, it didn’t involve you!
