I want to scan a big picture of my face and somehow mark it on a log so I can carve my own tiki that looks like me.
I guess I could stick the picture to the log and then use a hammer and a nail to mark the outlines, then just connect the dots with a black marker… that might just work… hmmmmm…

You could also use a good old-fashioned overhead projector so you can trace the image on the log & cut it out. This was how I designed some of my outdoor Xmas ornaments. Took images from children’s coloring books, projected them onto plywood, cut them out & painted. Looks marvelous!
I know, but I don’t have one.
You can usually rent one for a nominal fee from your local library!
I did not know that. thanks.
and you think you’re not the kind of guy my parents would have wanted me to date-
are you kidding? This is IMPRESSIVE, dude.
How is this done? Seriously? Photoshop?
You make me smile, Art, even on days when I don’t want to.
xo,
S
You know I live only to make you smile, right?
Don’t make me fall in love with you, too. Please.
Don’t you read my posts? I fall in love with everybody. I don’t have the ENERGY for this.
You make everybody smile, which is why you are the sweetest guy on WP.
One of my happiest days ever, and now I’m going to cry, was the day I posted the Tippecanoe post. It was my happiest day on WP, by far. And you and Trent had the most delightful banter on my blog – and it will always be one of my fondest memories of my favorite day.
Enough of that. Carry on.
Do we need to hijack your blog again to cheer you up?
That should work. Or if you have a smooth log, print the pic on lighter paper, then trace it with heavy marker so it bleeds through…
Eliminate a step… good idea.
I HATE transferring from one surface to another. It only seems to work with pumkins.
Oh! Get a metal wheel with the spikes – that might do it!
ok
narcisstic??
well… yeah…
I guess my blogging is too
HA!
I can’t wait to see the results, Art!
I may not get to it right away.
By all means, take your time!
I have nothing else to take.
Simple. Grab a log and then chisel away everything that doesn’t look like you.
I should have thought of that.
Stupendous!
It sounds so easy
did a similar project, but the ink is the key. and the dremel.
I have a dremel for my tikis.
oops “carve” away. Or get carried away.
Or both!
print it out on tracing paper. Using a needle and black ink punch an outline. Then use my favorite tool, a dremel. You can use it like a pen and crave away. Well, just of the top of my head.
That is sort of the idea I had… a needle would be easier than a nail.
Two words: 3D printer.
that would be cool
They’re amazing! One day, we will do complete production in 3D printers, I think. Instead of machines making things, we will send drawings to 3D printers, and they will produce our widgets anywhere we need them.
But I think they have mass application in art too. Think of the things you could create – almost anything. But I think they’re a bit pricey still.
yeah… a bit
They are so cool, maybe you’ll get one for your birthday.
ooohhh… it is coming up
You need to talk to a tattoo artist they could probably tell you how…
There’s something different about you… a little something springtime, a little something blue sky. Nah, must be the perfume.
ahaha don’t know what you’re talking about! 😉 The joke on facebook is that I got my dad lamp today and I’ve had a little too much of it!
?????
I explained my typo
yes you did
I’m not touching that comment with a ten foot pole. Mostly because I don’t know what a dad lamp is. Or Facebook. Que?
I hope that is a typo… or she made a lamp out of her dad’s skin… which I wouldn’t blame her for…
I think I may be out of the loop here… Maybe she got a dude lamp. I think I know what that is. But it’s not good. Not good at all.
uh oh
well… it’s no skin off my back… ha!
oh crap did i say dad lamp?! I mean s.a.d lamp it’s a light that help a lot with seasonal affective disorder and or depression, it also gives you energy….ahhaha
FB???? what? You haven’t joined??
Okay. That makes sense. Sort of… I totally believe in SAD, though, it makes total sense.
I have a Facebook account but nothing really ever goes on there. I hardly check it. For shame!
I can’t believe I typed dad ugh *chills*
Well here visit this then…
https://www.facebook.com/behindthemaskofabuse
Well, hope the lamp helps with the SAD.
I popped over and said hi!
Thank you! It’s actually quite amazing!
I saw that, I got you to use fb!! i rock!
You do rock, Zoe, but not because of fb… sheesh. Kicking and screaming, I get dragged into this technology thing… I’m worse than that guy who runs this place.
Okay, back to work. Guess what, I’m working on our bid for a project in your wonderful neck of the woods, but you know, if we win, I’m not coming there in winter. Brrrr…
Why thank you so do you, but not because you visited FB it’s because I’m sure you’ll win the bid and come to my neck of the woods this winter! lol It’s been semi warm here for the last week or so. Oh you do rock because of FB and you’re Canadian…I don’t think anyone can have more of a fight with tech then the one…
Oh dear…
I would love to visit AB in the SUMMER.
Once again, there appears to be something different about you…
Well come on out for a visit, there might still be snow in the summer…
Something different? I don’t know what you’re talking about…;-)

Dude. Gross.
Not if you don’t live where there are moose…

😉
Tiki…this sounds vaguely familiar. Ohhh wait! It was a conversation with Trent, huh? Coconut bra and skirt and the Borat-kini? Hehe.
well… that and the fact that I carve tikis…
For real? I really have to carve out some time and browse around your blog and the stories you’ve shared.
I am going through all the old posts and putting them in that word cloud thing in the sidebar called: Stuff you might like… you will be able to search by categories like: my art, my travels, stories of my life, funny famous people, etc… plus, there are my original song videos in the top bar button… and the search button… and stuff….
No pun intended!
No, I mean I really do carve tikis… I have pictures of them…
I remember that!
you would
It’s somewhat hard to forget.
true
Woohoo! *high fives*
Hey… we need you… go to my post called: ***Comment Here ***
We are having a party!
It was hard to forget.
where did this come from?
Dunno. Answering TJ, perhaps? WP’s comments/reply protocol is heavily messed up.
It is a slipshod way of running things.
I blame it on the beavers. And the biebers.
beiebvers
Sounds creepy. Very creepy.
yeah it does
dude… I need to do a Justin Beaver Photoshop pic!!!
Epic.
oh yeah
Very, very true.
I try to be true
