I am trying to figure out how to do this…

a 1

I want to scan a big picture of my face and somehow mark it on a log so I can carve my own tiki that looks like me.

I guess I could stick the picture to the log and then use a hammer and a nail to mark the outlines, then just connect the dots with a black marker… that might just work… hmmmmm…

You could also use a good old-fashioned overhead projector so you can trace the image on the log & cut it out. This was how I designed some of my outdoor Xmas ornaments. Took images from children’s coloring books, projected them onto plywood, cut them out & painted. Looks marvelous!

and you think you’re not the kind of guy my parents would have wanted me to date-
are you kidding? This is IMPRESSIVE, dude.
How is this done? Seriously? Photoshop?
You make me smile, Art, even on days when I don’t want to.

Don’t make me fall in love with you, too. Please.

Don’t you read my posts? I fall in love with everybody. I don’t have the ENERGY for this.

You make everybody smile, which is why you are the sweetest guy on WP.

One of my happiest days ever, and now I’m going to cry, was the day I posted the Tippecanoe post. It was my happiest day on WP, by far. And you and Trent had the most delightful banter on my blog – and it will always be one of my fondest memories of my favorite day.

        Enough of that. Carry on.

That should work. Or if you have a smooth log, print the pic on lighter paper, then trace it with heavy marker so it bleeds through…

I can’t wait to see the results, Art!

  5. Simple. Grab a log and then chisel away everything that doesn’t look like you.

did a similar project, but the ink is the key. and the dremel.

oops “carve” away. Or get carried away.

  8. tvkapherr's avatar tvkapherr says:

print it out on tracing paper. Using a needle and black ink punch an outline. Then use my favorite tool, a dremel. You can use it like a pen and crave away. Well, just of the top of my head.

  10. You need to talk to a tattoo artist they could probably tell you how…

Tiki…this sounds vaguely familiar. Ohhh wait! It was a conversation with Trent, huh? Coconut bra and skirt and the Borat-kini? Hehe.
