Most of you probably know me well enough that you recall I have this thing I do… and I call it; ‘the adventure walk’. Whenever I am someplace besides home, I get up super early and just start walking. I have been doing it most of my life.
Rothenburg is perhaps the most magical place there is to do an early morning adventure walk.
Hey, I tried to wake Mollie up to go with me, but she was just to tired to get up.
Don’t worry, we stayed in Rothenburg for most of the day, and it isn’t a very big town.
But that feeling of being almost alone in this beautiful place… the crisp feel of the air after the rain the night before… the play of light on the buildings and cobblestones as the sun came up…
I recommend using Google to learn about Rothenburg. The town has a fascinating history.
Or you could use the search bar on my blog to go back and learn about it from my posts about the time I went there with my other daughter… I talked about the history then… or was it just a while ago when I was using pictures of the town to play with colors by removing all the colors from pictures in Photoshop except for one element like a window box full of flowers… wherever…
I think that if you go to the trouble of learning about Rothenburg, you will put it on your list of places to visit when you get the chance.

Like a book of postcards! I used to be an early-bird. Just can’t seem to shake myself outta bed these days… but for an “Adventure Walk” it would be well worth it!
The excitement of travel gives me energy.
Art, I honestly can’t tell you how much I am enjoying your trip. I feel like I am there. Or back there, since so far, I’ve been to all these places. But I haven’t been to much of Germany sooooooooo. I’m looking forward to it!
well… we have a little ways to go yet, so yay!
I like to engage in adventure streaking. Also usually done early in the morning, but late at night is fine too. This activity usually involves substantial amounts of alcohol, and generally ends up going bad for the adventurer… but it is always worth it.
If you say so
Gorgeous Art. When I did long haul trucking I tried to enter delivery cities early a.m. to find the customer – wonderful having the roads all to ones self with the fresh smell of a new day and the grass gleaming with dew. Awesome. Mind you sometimes you run into some eccentric characters doing the same thing. Ha! I was headed to the docks in Halifax early one morning. I had a four axle flat bed trailer with 75,000 pounds of steel strapped to the deck that I was going to send over to Newfoundland. The four lane city street passed through a rough neighborhood but it was safe this time of day – all was quiet as the sun rose except for one really bad character who still roamed the streets. He was scruffy looking and had a mean look on his face,. His fur hadn’t seen a brush for a long time as he marched down the middle of the road with his tail held high. Not wanting to wake up the neighborhood, I gave the steering-wheel horn a light tap as a warning that I was approaching. The big Tom Cat stopped dead in his tracks – and turned his head to glare at me. As large as he was he was no more than 10 pounds and he faced a 7-axle, 112,000 pound loaded tractor trailer. And he was not going to move. I had to bring the rig to a stop and wait on the cat. Once I was stopped, the Tom turned back to his business and continued strutting across the street. Once he was clear, I continued with a smile. Now that was one tough Tom Cat.
And that is why cats are cool
Yep
uh huh
