We went to visit my wife’s aunt and uncle this weekend… you know, they are the ones who own the dog that is best friends with our dog… and I took some pictures of some woodpeckers.
I like woodpeckers as much as the next person, but I was really doing an experiment with my camera. I wanted to see which photo would turn out better, the one where I zoomed in with my camera, or the one where I cropped the picture in Photoshop to get a close up.
Here is the picture with the camera zoomed in…
It’s a little blurry. I don’t know if that is from me not holding the camera perfectly still, or just the fact that I have a really cheap camera.
Now here is the one where I took the photo with no zoom, and just used the fact that the pictures are really huge in the memory card in the camera… like 39 inches wide… and then cropped the image down to the middle bit with the bird in it. The picture still ended up about 9 inches wide, which is the size I use for posts now…
It still isn’t perfectly clear, but that might be from the bird moving when I took the picture. The tree looks a little better in this one.
I don’t know what we learned from this experiment… other than the fact that I really need a better camera… but that is just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

bet they can’t make a tiki though.
Probably not.
Ha! He does look surprised. Perhaps it was the computer holding the camera that took him askance. The two pictures look very much alike to me. Same surprised bird. Ha!
He couldn’t get over how handsome I am… in a bird-boxy sort of a way.
Great pics – he looks like he suddenly realised he left the iron on or forgot to pay his gas bill!
If you say so.
Either that or he has the cold, dead eyes of a killer
either or
The sweet, sincere, lovey dovey eyes of a bird out of his gourd and out of his mind
Those are the best.
A rare vintage.
yup
How and when did you escape your computer?
I am typing from the inside…
Awesome!!!!
Not really
