We left the waterfall and followed the river back down, down to where it fed into the sea…
I love that picture… the jungle, the river, the ocean… it really captures the power and beauty of that part of Maui. The river was swollen with rain. As I have mentioned they are having a record-breaking rainy season this year…
The good thing about the extra rain, and the fact that we didn’t go to Maui at the height of tourist season, is that we didn’t see any other people on our hike. The bad news is that the seven sacred pools that this river is famous for were way too dangerous to swim in…
They had signs posted warning people to stay away from the river because flash floods could make it even more dangerous at any moment…
Ha… those two pictures are the same, except I turned my phone on its side…
And that one is the same picture, only the colors are brighter… hey… okay, that’s it, I am taking some pictures of my backyard with my cell phone and my camera and seeing which one takes the better pictures…
Oh, we also saw this… growing in a tree…
What the heck is that? It looked a little like a pineapple, but those grow on the ground, don’t they? It was the same size as a pineapple. Do they have pineapple trees? I am so confused…
Oh… wait… I always look a little confused, don’t I?

Great shots. You are really sellign this place as a great place to go. As for that thing in a tree? It’s a tree brain
that does explain it
Awesome pics and even better selfie
aww… thanks
That first shot is brilliant! I agree, it has it all. I love that it appears you have the island to yourself.
Yay… now I am going to do a slightly weird post… imagine that…
Incredible. This was a bonus for me today. T
I am glad you enjoyed it.
I am pretty sure Pineapples grow in trees… I think…
yep. pineapple tree. and I am loving this trip. Thank you so much for sharing!
did you look it up?
I think they grow on the ground… we could Google it, but why destroy the mystery?
Amazing pic of the river/jungle/ocean/ Actually they’re all amazing pics – I think you may have even captured the image of the much sought visiting alien in the last pic. Strange looking creature – not much like humans at all – it’ll keep the scientists busy for a while.
but no probing… right?
That, my friend, looks like a turtlefruit.
hey, what two turtles do in their personal lives is their business, Buddy!
