On the way back from having one last smoke one evening, I met this charming little creature… saying his bedtime prayers…
That thing is like 5 inches long… and really thin…
I got my cell phone pretty close to take those pictures. The really weird thing is, he… or she… was still there the next morning…
It was up under the eaves of a ranch where we went for a sunset trail ride on horses on our last night in Maui. I didn’t put my cell phone too close to the spider… that thing was freekin’ huge… and I am glad I was careful… I found out that they bite.

Most spiders bite, but it depends on the size of the spider & their fangs whether it will hurt you or not. Brown recluse spider bite in Cuba = missing part of my big toe (which had to be cut out because their bite is necrotizing)
Sigh. These are not the pics I am looking forward to! LOL. These are going to make me never want to go to Maui, and the hair frizz.
I wanted to get that one out of the way.
Burn it
HA
I hear they taste good too…
You hear lots of stuff…
I also eat lots of stuff…
I heard that… I hear stuff too.
I hope “I found out they can bite” just means that someone else told you.
BTW, it’s called Hawaiian garden spider, and supposedly non-poisonous. But I wouldn’t touch one either.
Really?? I thought it looked like and “interior decorator” and could swear we had one in a bush in my mom and dad’s yard! At least it looks the same as I remember it and that was the name I was able to research back in the 70’s when I had to look at lots of books to find it!
We have spiky garden spiders that big here, but they aren’t as scary as that one.
It was called an interior decorator due to the design in the web.
Because it was a gay spider… not that there is anything wrong with that…
It won’t kill you, but it supposedly doesn’t feel very good.
That is what that means.
Cool critters!
It gets better
GEEZZEEE warning with spiders please…big time arachnophobia!
sorry
pft
ha
Stay away from the spiders! This is the voice of experience. I hope you took a picture of the horses you rode.
I have so many pictures of the horses.
That spider thingie looks nasty!
It was pretty scary.
