We took a day trip into Lahaina Town… I will share pictures with you, sooner or later. But I ambled into an art gallery, you know, to see what the competition is up to, and I saw these awesome glass jellyfish. You can set them on a base with colored lights in it, and they light up and change color. I loved them… but they were 600 dollars for the smallest ones.
Later, my wife and her sister snuck off and bought me this…
They found a cheap knockoff version in some store. These are all pictures of the one I brought home, just so you know. I took them in the bathroom with the lights off. I didn’t take a picture of the one in the gallery. But see, it changes colors!
And it is just as cool as the expensive one.
Because sometimes, art is just in how you see it, not in how much it is perceived to be worth.

Art is in the eye of the beholder . . . just don’t get a stinger in your eye Art!
Very good point!! How cool is that!
very?
Pretty cool, and that comes from someone who works in the lighting industry.
This has a low-tech, high-cool factor.
that’s the best combination
yeah it is
Do you do stage shows? I can hook you up with an English guy who does sound for big concerts.
Nah, company behind our building does. We sell components, dull stuff
oh… well…
That beats larva lamps hands down!
wait… are there really such things as larva lamps? Like a lamp with larvae in them… because that would be awesome… HA!
Maybe, although the jellyfish is still far superior.
They taste better with peanut butter too…
I’ll take your word on that. I don’t like being stung, especially in the mouth.
A spider bit me on the mouth once… I took a drink from a cold cup of tea, and it was swimming in it.
Eech, I never had a problem with spiders… until now.
sorry
Lol, I suppose I forgive youse
youse… like Archie Bunker for you?
Well translated 🙂
I know my classic TV
Awe…I love that she snuck out and found you one!
I think she spotted it when we were walking through town and then dropped back to get it.
Very cool! Kudos to your wife for finding the deal.
She is good at that.
That is ever so cool! Great gift. Enjoyed the photos.
Thanks.
That is so neat. Someone was smart in creating the knock-off. They look identical from the pictures.
The pictures are all of mine… I didn’t take a picture of the expensive one… but they are pretty much identical.
I wasn’t really clear about that in the post. I fixed it. I took a few pictures to show that the lights in the base make it change color.
See? You did bring back gifts for us. You’re just being stingy with them. I want a jellyfish!!!
You can come visit it… I am keeping it safe for you.
i true you gave her big kiss!
I did indeed.
What about a bouquet of dandelions?
No… but I got her some other stuff.
That is awesome!
I love it.
That is so cool.
It really is.
A jellyfish in a jar is something that you can just look at all the time. Or I could. Does it move?
It is just formed into the glass… it isn’t a real jellyfish.
I figured it wasn’t real.
The changing colors do sort of make it look like it is moving.
And in art, cheap knock offs can be just as good or better that the original – they’re just cheaper because they don’t have a famous name attached.
People get weird about that. I know people who won’t buy used books.
Not me, I think anything $5-$10 is overpriced.
I won’t even pay that for a new car.
Ooo, I want one.
I bet you can find them somewhere. Best night light ever
