Filters… Part 2…

Maybe nobody cares about this stuff, but I am having fun. I haven’t ever really taken the time to just play with some of these menus options in Photoshop, and I am learning things.

Last night I took a simple picture of a storm trooper helmet and used the ‘Emboss’ option from the ‘Stylize’ option in the drop down Filter menu…

But what if we hit ’emboss’ and then add ‘glowing edges’ on top of that?

a 3That is sort of cool. What about ’emboss’ and ‘find edges’?

a 4I like it. So maybe we can mix it up a little and try ‘glowing edges’ first, and then add ’emboss’ after that.

a 5How about ‘glowing edges’ and then ‘diffuse’?

a 6Cool… like a glowing charcoal drawing. I have to try that with a picture that has some color in it. What if we add three steps? How about ’emboss’ and ‘find edges’ and ‘find edges’ again?

a 7Sweet. I wonder where the little bits of color come from? Maybe I can try ’emboss’ and ‘glowing edges’ and ‘wind’.

a 8I just find Photoshop fascinating. These are just the options in one sub-menu. Once again, I didn’t select any part of the image, which would change the outcome in each picture, or use any of the extra command options you can add in the tool and brush menus or by hitting keys on the keyboard. It boggles the mind.

Okay, one last one for now. ‘Glowing edges’ and ‘diffuse’… plus I am going into the Image menu and opening the adjust menu and picking ‘adjust color balance’…

a 9Unless you all complain that I am boring you, I am going to do a few more of these posts today.

For a self styled computer moron, I keep telling you that you need to teach Photoshop, I know of no better person at it

Emboss on a background that matches the copper of frozen carbonite might be a good effect.
You could do Stuph and Han Solo in matching outfits!
