Time for some pretty colors…

I like to break out the watercolor paints and colored pencils when I go to my mom’s house. Her backyard is a great place to sit and paint…

a 1I have a small stack of pictures that I have been working on for the last few visits…

a 2I just keep adding to them. The funny thing about art is that you aren’t always sure when a painting is finished…

a 3On this one, I started out with simple geometric shapes. But on this trip, I was in sort of a flowery mood, so a started adding some on top of the old picture.

a 4On that one, I started adding some flower shapes, but who knows where they will end up going the next time I see it?

a 5And that one is just sort of silly, but it is a lot of fun to work on.

a 6But as long as I had flowers on the brain, I figured I would just do some flowers based on the flowers in my mom’s garden…

a 7They aren’t the actual flowers. More like the feelings that each flower gave me…

a 8I love watching a picture slowly come to life as it gets more depth and detail….

a 9I think that is coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see where it will lead me the next time I am there.

Very pretty and I love the back yard.

  2. I love all of them but the one that you said is sort of silly is the one that stands out for me! it would be cool if you could somehow add a little black wash to it and or some silver or gold…

  3. Oh my gosh i love these painting!! are they for sale??

[ Laughs ] It looked as though you had yourself lots of fun. I hope paint only got on your paper and not on your clothing.

    Beautiful blog!

It made me happy to see these paintings!! I agree with you that perhaps they shall never be quite done. That is something I can relate to indeed 🙂

  7. Nice pics, but didn’t you promise us some shots of Weird Al?

Aw, those are nice! Very pretty flowers by the way. Your paintings are good 😀

I suck at watercolors because I never get the water to paint ratio to work for me. Plus I’m impatient and seem to paint with my right hand when I am a left handed person normally. So that doesn’t help. I use my right hand for lots of stuff though that doesn’t require excellent fine motor skills such as the computer mouse, drinking/eating, etc. Writing and painting though I can’t do right handed 😦

    • Watercolors are way harder than it seems like they should be. You can try keeping a crumpled up paper towel near by to soak up some water from the brush, or mix the paint on a paper plate first. But thanks. Glad you like them.

Ah, good tips! Thanks. I may try those suggestions if I feel inspired to actually paint anything.

        • Just get the stuff out and put it where you can pick up a brush and add one color when you have a few free minutes. Also, take some good paper and do a very light wash… lots of water, big soft brush… of blue sky and green ground. Then let them dry. You will now have some premade backgrounds to throw some trees or flowers or buildings or mountains on.

Well my home is rather cluttered at the moment for painting. I could go outside but there’s usually too much sun directly on where I’d be sitting. It’s fine though. I’ll just stick to sketching on a pad if I suddenly have the urge to draw again.

Thanks for the pointers though 🙂

Can the same be said about writing?
