I was playing cards last night… a charmingly simple game called ‘Kings in the corner’… with my friend Andy, whom I have known since we were kids, my youngest brother, Sid, whom I have also known since we were kids, and my youngest daughter, Mollie, whom I have known since she was a kid.
I don’t think I ever used the word ‘whom’ three times in one sentence before… that is a whole lot of whoms…
Anyway, as we played, the guys were trying to remember every bad joke that we had ever heard… at least the ones that you can tell a 13 year-old girl. Mollie contributed by using her smart phone to look up bad jokes on the interwebs. We were having a good time. There are some really bad jokes out there, let me tell you. But then Mollie stumbled across a joke about lawyers that I thought was just a little racy for what we were doing. I told her to put the phone away, but Andy asked to borrow it. He wanted to see if there were any good Arthur jokes.
Arthur is my actual, real life, no kidding, I’m not making this up name…
The next thing I know, Andy is laughing so hard that he had tears streaming down his face.
We all started laughing right along with him without knowing why.
It was just one of those moments.
When he could finally catch his breath, Andy read the joke to us:
Knock knock…
Whose there?
Arthur…
Arthur who?
Arthur any better jokes on this stupid website?
Okay, it isn’t the best joke in the world, and we all felt just a little bit let down, but the silliness was contagious, and Andy was still laughing.
Why?
Because there weren’t any other jokes on that stupid website.

Very good. Yes, he is the one with the big shaggy hair way back in the day. And he was at a live show with me, and in the cemetery doing a sexy pose on a tombstone that looked like a bed… that boy gets around.
So he only has two eyes like the rest of us? Disappointing.
But he does have three… never mind…
