Something old, something new…

I am trying something completely new… other than the fact that it is something I already did… if you see what I mean.

It all has to do with the fact that in the early days of starting a blog, we often do posts that we are very proud of, only to realize that we have very few people actually seeing it because people haven’t discovered us yet. So, perhaps once a week or so, I am going to dig through my old posts and find those that I am fond of, and move them up to the top. I am not doing this for me. I am doing it for you. Because I can’t bear the thought of you missing out on these nuggets of true genius. And because my blog theme does not lend itself to casually exploring my past. You are very welcome.

Being the computer moron that I am, I am sure there is a better way to do this than just reblogging the old posts. But I couldn’t figure out how to cut and paste an entire post and make it look like a new one. If you have any suggestions or ideas about the validity of this plan, please let me know. Also, if you are one of the five or six people who went back and read all my stuff, just ignore these. Think of them as a day off. And thank you again for learning about me. You probably know me better than most of my family does.

*** All publishers and literary agents please disregard the following statements ***

Now, about the novel I am posting. I do not mean to sound like I am begging or being pushy, but I will once again try to appeal to your good nature… which I suppose could be construed as begging, but nonetheless… We are all writers. That is why we have a blog. And I assume most of us want to be published. Part of my brilliant plan to get published is to walk into publishers meetings with my blog stats and comments in hand,  and proudly say, ‘Hey, look, people already like this story, so just get on with it and we will all become fabulously wealthy and they will no doubt make a major motion picture with loads of big stars out of my fantastically clever novel.’ But to do that, I need those numbers. So stop farting around, people. Help a brother out. Make the dream come true. I have told you that I don’t care if you read it or not. What else can I do. Just show up when I post a chapter, hit the like button, but for gosh sakes, make a comment. Pretend you are thrilled, enthralled, captivated. Or just type one single word… (hopefully something like; awesome, or fantastic, or superlative)…

Don’t get me wrong. I am not happy about resorting to this groveling. But when my numbers go down when I post a chapter, and then shoot up when I do funny pictures of Superheros or Romney or Cheney, it just makes us all look bad. And it does sort of make it look like my novel sucks. And I know that none of you, even those who are too busy to read that many words, or just hate sci-fi, do not really believe my novel sucks. Because it doesn’t. But even if you think it does, I think you can put aside your belief for long enough to type one word.

Thank you.

On your “Dashboard”, select “Posts”, then choose “Copy”. This brings up a copy of your old post in edit mode, so you can change the date, title, or nothing before you Publish it. (Don’t forget to SAVE!)

I did what you are doing last year and the “Copy post” really made it easy!

PS; I love your blog 😉

  2. I agree, I think it s brilliant
I do know those mazes can be trying, especially without a map. A soul can get lost for days.

  3. Fabulous idea. now we know which posts are important to you. Nice way to share ~

Dearest. I warned you August and September were a bear. I will be returning to the novel in October, and am looking forward to that with great anticipation I might add. However, begging and pleading will not change the fact that it is STILL September. And of course you weren’t directing your comments in my direction…but I just wanted to reassure and remind you.

  6. I’ve got 864 posts. I’ve been thinking about just starting at the beginning and reposting them all, in order – including the Choose Your Own Blog Adventure. Why not? So no, I don’t think this is a bad idea at all.

I’ve been wondering how to ‘replay’ some of my older stuff too. Now and then I use the image widget to post a photo that links to an old post.
As for comments, I recently read about the 90-9-1 rule – 90 percent of people won’t post any comments, 9 percent will post infrequently, and 1 percent will account for the vast majority of the comments.
That won’t make you feel any better – probably.

    • Thank you so much. But I tend to go through phases… fazes?… and I never know which way I am going to go next. I did one post making fun of Dick Cheney, and then I ended up doing 20 or 30 nasty pictures of him. But sometimes I want to go a little deeper than just Photoshop pictures of superheros.

  12. Dear pmao,

I don’t know about reblogging your own stuff, I’ve never done it on Notes, there’s always that feeling of blowing your own trumpet too hard, but I’m planning to reblog other people’s stuff on my new blog.

I haven’t been reading many blogs at all in the past week, probably more like a fortnight but I’ve saved all your chapters in my email and one day I’ll be in the mood for a long read and I’ll get back to it. Sorry, that’s how I do it with Victor’s Zombie chapters too. I WILL read it, I just don’t know when.

    Love Dotty xxx

All for the reblogging, it pains me when I have a post that gave me the giggles and no one read it back then. And it’s usefull hwen I revisit ideas that I have to refer back so people know what the point in it all is.

And I will find more time to read the book, I was up to chapter 5, but the last three weekends I have been away so am hoping to have a quiet one this weekend, god knows I need it
