The wedding… Part 2

Here is the proud and happy groom…

Hey, look… the picture came out pretty good. I guess the secret is not messing with the size and resolution in Photoshop.

That is Big Johnny. And he is big. I am a big guy, and he is bigger than me. My wife has been friends with Big Johnny since middle school, or junior high school, as we used to call it. They lived near each other in San Diego. And they both went to U. C. Berkeley, a hard school to get into. He protected her before I was there to do it, during those early college years.  Big Johnny is one of the sweetest, kindest and smartest people I have ever met. He was best man at our wedding.

So I mentioned that the wedding was sort of a hootenanny/western/vegan kind of a thing. You don’t get much more Northern California than this mix. And the setting was perfect.

Here is a shot of some of the guests, just before the ceremony began…

And here is the ceremony itself…

Yes, the bride is 7 months pregnant, and that is such a beautiful thing…

The bride, whose name is Eva, had her dog be the ring-bearer…

I just can’t begin to say how wonderful and special this whole weekend was…

An added bonus was that we have known many of the guests for years, so we had a chance to catch up with people we hadn’t seen for a long time.

Here is the bride and groom having their first dance as a married couple…

They are dancing to a ukulele band that did quite a rocking set.

Here is a close up of the ring-bearer… I wish I could remember the dog’s name, but there was a lot going on and I am not that bright…

He doesn’t really have a unibrow… we were all given fake mustaches to wear, and that was where he chose to wear his. I had to put mine in a few funny places, because it wouldn’t stick to my real mustache.

I will leave you with some pictures of one of the highlights of the evening, which I think every wedding should incorporate… the sparkler dance…

OMG Arthur! You are not going to believe what I just happened to troll upon this evening. It made me think of you immediately and I just had to share it with you. Please tell me you haven’t already blogged this and I just haven’t read it yet. That would be so disappointing as I was so excited to show it to you! Isn’t this cool? And they said they had gone and checked and it was true. LOL.

“Today I went on thesaurus.com and searched for “ninjas”. The computer told me “Ninjas cannot be found”. Well played ninjas, very well played.

    • Well of course they can’t be found… they are all working at Benny Hanna restaurants after they retired from the killing spree inside my head… Thanks for sharing that with me.

Nothing of you in your cowboy attire?

  4. What wedding would be complete without a sparkler dance? Great photos.

Someone I know has thought about having sparklers at their wedding. A dance is a cool way to incorporate them. I have wondered about how safe they’d be though, as they do shoot off sparks, hence their name. Didn’t the sparks tend to land on the ladies’ long flowing flimsy dresses and burn holes in them? That’s what I always figured would happen but never knew anyone that had done it to check with. Now I do! VBG. So, did the dancers have to stand way far apart from each other and hold the sparklers way out away from their bodies to avoid melting holes in their clothes? Inquiring minds want to know please.

    • The sparks are not really hot. That is why they let little kids hold them in their hands. Try putting your hand right up next to one sometime. Of course these might be famous last words.

  6. Sparkler Dance. Sounds like some kind of ritual. It all looks like a blast and yup. These pix are better. Nameless dog is very accommodating and cute, in a Groucho Marx kinda way.

Cool doggy unibrow. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one of those before. If I were a dog, I would have wanted a few of those…

Love the sparkler dance. Maybe we should have one every weekend through the summer.
