I’m a little rattled…

I caught a young rattlesnake in our house today.

The dog was barking by the door and wouldn’t stop. I went over and looked out the screen door to see what was bothering her. I heard a high-pitched rattle right by my foot.  I can still jump if you were wondering. And Mollie, our 12 year old, was due home any minute. I finally got it in a big Tupperware container with a tight lid. I will try to get a picture of it tomorrow… when my legs stop shaking. It was about a foot long, and the young ones are just as poisonous as the adults, and more likely to deliver a full dose of venom.

I really wouldn’t mind if sometimes my life was a little less exciting.

See, now you know how I felt when I found that one at my door a few weeks ago. Hopefully you didn’t toss rocks at it like my sister did. LOL

I’d rather see the Publishers Clearinghouse Prize Patrol at my door.

  4. Dear pmao,
I have a panic attack when one of next door’s cats gets in. A snake would give me a heart attack.

Can rattlesnakes climb stairs? I am pretty sure your post just scared the socks ON me, and the shoes, and possibly leg armor.

Like Jim Stafford says, “I don’t like spiders and snakes”. I would have SMP if that happened to me.

No way! I was just watching a show called “When Animals Invade your house” And they had a rattlensnake in a kids bedroom. That is might brave to dispose of it yourself!

  8. Yikes! That’s creepy. I know there are rattle snakes around here too and black widows as well. Thank goodness I’ve never come across either (knock on wood)
