Hey, I know, but I was vacuuming the floor the other day, a regular occurrence with two dogs and a cat, and right before I sucked it up, I spotted this dead mosquito hawk. (no, I don’t know why they call them that, they don’t eat mosquitoes, and they don’t look like hawks, and they are pretty big)…

And I got that cool digital microscope for Christmas…

And I figured, why not?

Nature is always interesting.

Even when it is slightly disgusting.

And it is fun to get up close and personal with mother nature.

Uh… that is the very end of its tail… or abdomen… or thorax… or whatever.

I guess the wings are the part I like best.

Oh, I almost forgot… the microscope can zoom down to an even closer level of focus…

Well, that just ruins it. Hairs on the wing membranes? Eeeew.

But I am really glad I am not the size of an insect.
