I really like that monkey.
I took that at the zoo with Olivia, and I save it for these occasions.
Many people point out (rightfully) that most of the nation’s founders were slave owners. But none of those founders fought on the side of the Confederates during the Civil War. Hell, none of them were alive when the Civil War broke out! The Confederacy was a traitorous organization; their sole effort was to dissolve the United States of America and create a separate nation. The country’s founders had wanted to build a unified state. And yes, the Civil War really was about slavery – not states’ rights! They need to stop trying to dress it up and re-write history.
On top of all that, the U.S. fought against Nazi Germany to keep fascism from overtaking Europe. (Of course, they weren’t so eager to end racial fascism at home, but that’s a different ordeal.) Displaying the Nazi flag, therefore, is essentially treasonous.
Damn! Some people have been fighting the Civil War for over 150 years and STILL haven’t won!
The Confederacy killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers of the United States, the other guys just founded it. Not really a very good comparison.
That’s essentially what I’m saying. The founders (Washington, Jefferson, et al.) may have been slave owners, but they weren’t part of the Confederacy when the Civil War raged. Waving the Confederate flag is traitorous in that it’s pushing for establishment of a separate nation.
Well, that’s what I’m saying too… so… uh… yeah!
