So the San Diego zoo has a new exhibit where they show life-sized recreations of extinct animals that used to live in the area… including that big mastodon elephant in an earlier post, and a giant sloth, a sabre tooth tiger… and this… whatever kind of prehistoric predator that is… that was placed right beside an enclosure of live antelope… or some kind of prey-type-African deer-sort-of-animals… This seems to be sort of cruel. Those guys just spend their whole lives wondering when that thing is going to leap at them and tear them apart.
I did love the fake tar pit full of bones, though… and the flowers…

I will get more pictures of the flowers when I go back to get some pictures of the new baby giraffe… and the baby gorilla… which we didn’t see on this visit…

I do love me some flowers…

These ones were interesting… each flower had a little cross in the middle… never seen that before.

So cool – and once the antelope realize the display is fake they won’t pay any attention. They sense as much by smell and motion (of which there would be none) as they do by sight.
when the wind is blowing away from them…
Cool, only in america!
Damn, sometime i just hate glaciers of icy Canada here in Vancouver BC…

Ooooooooo-nothing?
