So, I know that most of you probably don’t give much of a crap about birds one way or the other…

My mom got me interested in bird watching. I saw a cool bird near her house when we were visiting ten or so years ago. It turned out to be a red breasted sap sucker. Then I started noticing the birds in my own yard. The same birds would come back at the same time of the day. And they all did different things. I started wondering what the birds were and how they made their living. And I have always loved hawks.

On our camping adventure over the holiday, we took the opportunity to go on a cruise on the lake in a boat piloted by a ranger. She was awesome.

Mollie sort of hogged the camera for this two hours, but she does have an eye for photography. Look at that picture she took.

I like the way pelicans fly in formations like bombers or fighter planes.

But there is a reason we took this boat ride.

And it wasn’t to see pelicans or cormorants or shovel beaked ducks or loons or any of the other birds we saw… except for one very special bird…

But I am saving that bird for last…

HA!

Until then, you will just have to put up with pictures of lost seagulls…

Or a great blue heron taking flight…

Which is still pretty cool, if you ask me.

But, just to keep things exciting, I threw in that picture up there of a golden eagle…

And that picture of an American kestrel, a small bird of prey, which, I admit, is a long way off, but at least you have an arrow to point it out to you. Birds aren’t always easy to find, which is why it is a fun challenge to watch them.

Very cool, Arthur – great shots!
thanks
You’re welcome!
yay
I give a crap about birds..
but do you pick it up afterwards? HA!
Luckily I now carry scented baggies made specifically to contain dirty baby diapers…
been there, done that
Yes… a lot has happened in the past year! I haven’t been on here in forever due to some of those circumstances but this morning I decided to get back to my blog and start telling my story. I’ve been wanting to for awhile, but haven’t felt emotionally ready.
well good to have you back.
Thanks! Hopefully it can be permanent this time. I should have been writing about everything that was going on all along, but I have the awful tendency to isolate myself and internalize everything when I get depressed and anxiety ridden.
well don’t do that
Beautiful. I love birds they are fascinating to watch.
They are! They all have their little niche to fill.
Wow, loving your photos of birds. Very cool.
thanks… I am building to a crescendo…
Look forward to it!
Me too…
