So… yeah… back to my weird bird adventures… We went camping over the holiday week, to be near my wife’s aunt up in Solvang. You should Google Solvang. It is an adorable little Scandinavian town. They passed a law that if you build in the town, you have to use Scandinavian architecture. I like it so much that I think all small towns should pass laws to keep to a theme… like an old west town, or a medieval village. America would be like Disneyland!

Anyway, we camped at a campground at Cachuma lake near Solvang. And when I walked over to visit the little store in the campground, they had a bunch of hummingbird feeders.

There must have been almost thirty of the little birds buzzing all around me at one point.

They make this cool buzzing sound like big bees. If I could have stayed there longer, and if I had brought my zoom lens to the store, I could have gotten some crazy pictures.

Later on, when I was sitting alone, writing some more of my princess novel, a hummingbird thought the red chair was a flower, and it flew so close to me that it was only about a foot from my head. I didn’t have the camera, and I couldn’t move without scaring it away, but we looked at each other for about half a minute. It was awesome.

Okay, back with more bird stories tomorrow.

That’s so awesome! I’ve never seen that many all together!
They travel in gangs… ha
Really! Or maybe that’s called a flock… but you should already know that being the expert you are!
I ought to know, but I don’t
I remember Solvang. I also remember it was buzzing with tourists and not with hummingbirds, so I think you went there at a good time.
tourists are not nearly as much fun
Wonderful shots. Hummingbirds are very hard to capture in stills.
I was in a swarm!
What does building have to do with birds?
Right didn’t see the word part!
some birds live on buildings…?
You think!
no… I don’t… not often anyway
