I will just come right out and say it… I fell in love…
While I was walking around making new friends, I spotted this little beauty. She was very shy. It took a while to coax her over to say hello.
And at first she wanted to stay at arm’s reach.
But I was patient.
And then I found the spot… the spot that most horses and dogs have… the spot that they love to be scratched… right between her ears…
After that, it was all love… that is the tip of my nose, over there on the left… horses, believe it or not, like it when you sniff them while they are sniffing you… just a tip…
Then we spent about ten minutes just nuzzling each other. She was the sweetest, nuzzeliest, snuggeliest horse I ever met. She liked to breathe softly into my ear. I could have stayed there all day.
Not bad for a selfie, huh? Except for the shadow of the phone. And yes, I have product in my hair… hey, don’t judge me… I was meeting new people. And one of them was a professional model.
Okay, here is the thing… and this is the kind of thing I love… but this horse…
My new best friend here… had a story of her own. When I finished getting to know her, I turned around and was surprised to find all the humans staring at me. So I walked over to find out what was up. It turns out that my new friend was a wild-born mustang. She isn’t saddle broken. She is still part wild. And nobody else had been able to get her to approach them on her own.
Hey, I am just that good.

cool hairdo 🙂
I may have overdone it…
no, you look good! 🙂
HA!
I see a vague resemblance between the two of you. Maybe it’s the whiskers.
yay
You and that horse reminds me of an episode of Father Ted. You ever watch that one?
I have seen the show, don’t remember that one.
It’s called My Lovely Horse, it has a song.
I will try to find that one.
Can you take her home….she’s decided your hers anyway. Wonderful story. glad to be back reading your blog, had been too busy for anything fun for a long time, but this was so wonderful wil try to make time to visit often.
I am glad for any time you can spend here… thanks very much.
A wild born Mustang? That is a very special and unique experience, Art. You definitely have a gift. Perhaps the fact that you did not know the story and approached her like you would any other horse is what made the difference. You didn’t look at her as something to be conquered or broken. They may have to hire you full time.
It is just my special love vibes…
These are my favorite pictures of all the ones you’ve posted, and that’s saying something. 🙂 What was her name?
I have no idea… the owner wasn’t there. Or they probably would have warned me not to get so close.
You two look so cute together! Did you adopt her??? 🙂
she adopted me…
I know of an APHA paint horse named Pouringmyartout…..
I would make an awesome horse…
I was wrong, I ended up coming across the horse’s name again.. it’s TerronMyArtOut. Sorry! LOL!
I would hate to sue a horse over copyright infringement…
Sweet. And good to see the caterpillar is back on your top lip
half way there
It’s not pupa stage yet then
ummmm…. maybe?
What a great story Art! She is a beauty!
tyup
What an awesome ending!
I love that ending
So does that make you a horse whisperer… or is it a horse blogger?
both
I loved reading this, first because, like you I love horses, and second because it had a great surprise ending.
It really was the high point of the day. Thanks.
We always knew that you are that good!
thanks
Not moodus are you?
uh… no?
now thats my guy… Ooops did mean it that way!

Cool. I’m from Nova Scotia and there is an uninhabited island about 200 miles off the coast that is inhabited only by wild horses – Sable Island Horses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sable_Island_horse They are protected by the government. You’d feel right at home there Art.
I will get myself a horse costume!
