Scottsdale is full of cute shops and little art galleries. We roamed the streets one evening after a nice dinner, and I took a few pictures. There was one store that had a giant geode in the window. A geode, if you don’t know, is one of those crazy rocks that looks like a boring rock on the outside, but if you split it open, you find a hollow space full of delightful crystals.
The geode in the window was huge, and looked like wings. So if you ever found yourself wondering what I would look like with big, crystal wings, this picture is for you…
I apologize for the fact that some of these pictures are going to be a little unclear because I did take them through glass windows.
Who doesn’t want that in their living room?
I don’t even know what that is, and I still want one.
Little cactus planters where the artist decided to use the cacti in a rather suggestive manner. That is just plain silly.
We walked around the old town part of Scottsdale one lovely morning. There is, as you might expect, a great deal of native American art.
I happen to love native American art.
And metal flowers make a lot of sense in a desert. You don’t have to water them. In fact, you probably shouldn’t, or they will rust.

Art the angel. The mind boggles. (Just kidding, my friend.)
I could go for the metal flowers too. Might be nice to have around in an office.
I like them better than plastic ones.
Love the Native American art! You look almost angelic in the first pic – the grass coming out of the top of your head almost looks like one of those shiny halos!
Thank you. I don’t get told I look almost angelic often enough. What about the one of me with all the cactus arms?
Of course you would like that one! Be better if you weren’t wearing such a dark shirt.
Next time.
Can I have my wings back now?
No… they look better on me.
ummm…pft
***smile***
I’m moving to the desert so I can have some metal flowers.
Make some. Start a trend.
Ooh, and a metal snake! And a metal scorpion! And a metal…oh, I don’t know, how about a Browne metal fairy? And a metal…
I knew the fairy jokes would pop up…
But you’re the one who started them…and I meant a fairy-tale fairy anyway, so get rid of that chip;-)
I am good either way… I am very secure in myself and my Tinkerbell-like cuteness.
Tinkerbell like? Ummmm…..;-)
Is that stretching my point a little too far?
A bit. Perhaps.
Gee, I try never to do that.
They will rust, we have rain and fog.
Varnish them. You must have metal stuff there.
I have all kinds of cool stuff, you know junk scraps, and paint too. So you think a coat of urethane will do the trick?
Or use something that doesn’t rust.
I don’t have any scrap surgical stainless and the gold is too pretty to paint.
Gold doesn’t rust, and gold flowers would look pretty awesome.
You really saw some really great things! Many of those things would great at my place. That octopus was bad-ass.
Oh, about those purdy wings…Very becoming.
I bet I get some fairy jokes out of that one, but oh well… not that there is anything wrong with that.
Heck no! It takes a real man to pull off wings like those.
That is true you know.
