I changed my mind…again…

I have just decided that I am NOT going to stop posting chapters of the novel just yet.

Even if only three people are reading it.

Posting the chapters is helping me to do the last rough edit at a set pace. I might stop once my writers workshop class begins next month. And I might not. You know how I am.

I still don’t think it would kill you to go in and type a quick comment under the chapter posts just to help me impress future potential publishers, but here is the simple truth: My numbers aren’t going down significantly on the days I post chapters. My numbers are just down all the time now. I have heard that the same thing is happening to other people as well. There seems to be a sort of doldrums in the blogosphere right now, so I might as well not take it personally.

Thanks.

I tried reading your chapters again and again and again and hardly can get past the first paragraphs. I don’t know why. So I tried the middle paragraphs and the end ones and had the same results. I don’t know why. I don’t really think you want a quick comment from me on each chapter. The comment would be “Huh!” I should look at your Characters and Races on the other hand. What little I’ve seen I liked. It’s just the chapters …

    • Sci-fi is not for everyone. I appreciate the effort. I guess you could just try skimming through for the action and the jokes, but I am coming to grips with the fact that I can’t please everyone.

Have you ever thought about writing shorter adventures based around these characters? You’ve got so many and writing their backstories as separate entities could help the novel overall. Just a thought. Plus people are always more likely to read shorter things. We’re stupid like that.

  3. I was just part of a discussion about why numbers are down. I actually rarely look at my stats. I think of my followers as my blogging family For me they are enough.
But I am not trying to plug my book either so I do get it.

Good luck on that too. Someone will pay attention and act on it.

What is happening? I thought people had been quiet and went through my people I follow and the majority haven’t posted since Spring. Well if I didn’t miss them in that time…

I said I wished I was at school with you and lo and behold you are going to school again, is there some kind of exchange programm? I need to be in on this.

You mean you are getting official “training”??? Isn’t that like denying EVERYTHING you have stood for until this very point? What’s next, Art? Music lessons? I can’t keep up with this.

    • Oh crap… I forgot that some of you… a few of… a couple…you actually pay attention to what I say. That rarely happens in real life. But the writers class is just a little adult school thing, and they say they are going to ‘touch’ on tips for getting published. Being all art-side-of-the-brain you know I need help with that real life stuff. I want to start sending this out, and maybe some childrens books. And I was hoping to get some free editing from the teacher because I can’t spell or grammarsize. I am the idea guy.

I can’t help but feel like you are living on the wild side though. Betraying the rough edges of, “I don’t know how I know how to do this.” I love giving you a hard time about this…it’s fun. Enjoy your workshop, and pass on your tips if you want…(that way I don’t have to admit to education over raw talent.)

        • When I took those computer art classes, (see the posts about my one attempt at college) people always came up to me after class and said; “I am so glad you asked that question, because I didn’t get it either”… So if you are afraid to ask questions, why the bleep are you in school?
I think people like the fact that I am a computer moron… and some other kind of moron as well. I ask questions that people don’t even know they want to ask. I get a lot of tech support from nice people. I have to figure out ways to do the crazy ideas I have.

            oxymoron?

I think that people who ask questions are brilliant. I’ve subdued my curious side over the years because I was too afraid of feeling stupid. But I was always thankful when someone else asked.
