I hope that link worked, but you know how I am about these things…

It is a link to the blog of a friend of mine. He came up with an interesting idea for a… well, it might be a new blog… or a series of posts… I don’t know, I am a computer moron. All I know is that he is planting a garden, and I need to make a picture of a seed, and a bio for a plant that the seed will grow into. I hope that clears up any questions you have.

My plant is called the ‘Taking Tree’… (yes, I know that is a shameless ripoff of that sad book called the ‘Giving Tree’, which I just sort of reversed and turned it around so that this time it us that gets screwed and not mother nature, but I bet I end up doing more plants and animals for the garden, so cut me some slack)…

Here is the seed pod of the taking tree, just after germination…

And yes, it has a scary little dragon face on it. When was the last time you tried to design a plant, for cryin’ out loud?

Now for the bio;

—————————————————————————————–

The taking tree.

The round seed pod rolls into a new garden, and finds a quiet place to sprout. At first, it seems harmless enough, with beautiful, dragon-headed flowers like snapdragons. They do not move, except in the wind… at least not at first. But under the ground, the plant is sending out tendril shoots, each of which can start a new tree beside plants that are growing nearby. When the time is right, the dragon heads come to life, and can devour any plant that does not cooperate with the taking tree.

The taking tree will become the supreme ruler of any garden that it takes root in, taking a percentage of each plants fruit or leaves in exchange for letting the plants live.

And the taking tree is a true carnivorous plant, just so you know.

    I do agree that this has the potential for a marvelous children’s adult book spoof. The unfortunate part is that this talking tree bears remarkable resemblance to some of the more aggressive plants in my yard and garden. Are you quite certain it isn’t real?

    This seems like it could be a good “children’s” book parody. I know Dean Koontz did one about Santa’s Evil twin. We used to read it every Christmas Eve. This is why axe murderers do not scare me.
