So there Mollie and I were, at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, having fed the lorikeets and brushed some goats, and we came around a corner and ended up face to face with a cheetah…
Two zookeepers were walking it around. They were also telling everyone not to get too close… or move too fast…

Nice kitty…

For some reason, having this dog around helps keep the cheetah calm.

So that was kind of cool.

On the way out of the park, another trainer was giving a lecture on monitor lizards.

Nice lizard…

Cheetah on a leash… okay, I’m jealous, officially.
we all need one of those
When I was growing up, a very rich person in the next tow owned a leopard. He/she used to drive around in a convertible with the cat in the passenger seat. Sometimes he would leave it inside the parked car outside of of a store.. Not what you expect when you leave the candy store!
I wonder if that worked out well in the long run…
Probably not for the leopard.
good point… sad… but good…
I don’t honestly know what happened. But when I saw this I was a kid — bite sized. I remember my brother pulling my hand away as I went to stroke it. scary.
It no doubt went to a zoo somewhere, where it was likely better off than with some stinkin’ rich guy.
A lot of people can’t even be trusted to keep a dog or a cat.
Who keeps the dog calm?…………He’s gotta be thinking, “It’s a CHEETAH for Chrissakes!!!!!” LOL
HA… I guess maybe they grew up together
I don’t think a human can move too fast for cheetah.
no, but you don’t want to trigger the hunting reflex…
Wow, walking a cheetah – awesome. Neat that the dog keeps the cat calm. Ha! And a leash for a lizard – Ha!
It would be fun to walk around with a big lizard on a leash
People’s reaction would be funny. Gibber has a 6 foot snake that she takes for a walk. I actually saw a guy with an 8 foot yellow colored snake walking it through downtown Ottawa recently. He had it draped around his neck and the snake had it’s head lifted up and waving from side to side like it was sniffing the air.
I want a lizard big enough to ride on…
