It is funny how different one kind of jungle can be from another type. And it isn’t easy to describe in words… even with pictures…
This side of Maui gets much less rain than the other side. It feels different… it smells different…
The air isn’t dripping with moisture. But it is still jungle, there is no doubt about that. We walked along a small stream…
There we lots of chickens running around, and some slightly more exotic birds… it was absolutely beautiful…
We followed the stream to the sea. I knew that this was going to be our last walk in the jungle…
When we got back to the car, we saw a local guy doing some wood carvings by his van. We bought a turtle, because this was the day after I first got to swim with a sea turtle while I was snorkeling…
And that is what memories are made of… a piece of wood carved into a turtle by a guy who lives on an island where you met your first sea turtle on your second honeymoon… does that make any sense?
I am going to miss the jungles of Maui…

As the jungle will no doubt miss you PMAO. I could see it preening for ur pictures. I doubt the locals give it quite as much attention. Great pics and post. Thanks!
Thank you.
That wooden turtle will always be a treasure. Just holding it in your hand will bring back your memories of the jungle and of swimming with a turtle.
