… is that, if you are wearing shorts, and you open it on your lap, then the hinges can close on your leg hairs and grab them… which really hurts…

Are you sure it is a Laptop? An IT guy once explained to me that any portable with cooling vents in the bottom cannot be used on the lap and must be used on a table or other flat hard surface. If not they will overheat and die permanently.
It is the gaps between the hinge on the back corner that hurts… I don’t see a vent on the bottom
Microsoft really needs to work out all of their bugs.
Maybe they like smooth, sexy legs…
