I might have a problem…

a 1

Every time I start an art project, this happens to me. It takes over my whole life. It fills my head. I go to sleep thinking about it, and I wake up thinking about it. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it.

I am just trying to write a cute little book for young children… with some adorable pictures that I painted myself. Now I have monkeys in my head… monkeys on my back… monkeys running all over the house.

On the other hand, this compulsion, this strange way that characters have of coming to life inside me and all around me, is exactly why you should read my novels. This monkey project has only been going on for a few weeks… well, the research has taken years, but I think I will tell you about that tomorrow… My sci-fi novels took four years to write. I lived with those characters for all that time. I got to know them really well. They are real to me. And I think that comes across when you read the books.

Just sayin’…

So if I Hannibal Lectored your head by slicing the top off, would all these monkey’s come jumping out?

  3. That’s really cool -sleeping with your characters. I think that’s art!

I think you may be a renaissance man. And I don’t necessarily mean the frilly-haired white-faced dandy type either.

  5. You have artistic A.D.D. I can spot it because I have hobby A.D.D. Its not a bad thing unless you’re with the wrong person which you obviously aren’t. My ex used to always say “why buy such and such when you’ll only be interested in it for a month.”
but now my fiancee is all supportive and loves to feed my ever changing obsessions saying that’s what makes me me and creative and I typically revisit hobbies later on.
