This blog started as a place to stick all my weird artwork. It has morphed into a bunch of other weird stuff. I am going back to my roots… for now…
I still have a lot of stuff in the garage I haven’t shared yet… at least I hope I haven’t already shared these… my brain isn’t what it used to be… can you even imagine what my brain was like when it all still worked… more or less???
So these are three paintings I did long ago. Instead of taking them down off the wall over the washing machine, I just took a picture of them, so they were a little askew… I love that word… So when I cropped them I had to trim some corners. And one of them was actually behind glass in a frame, the middle one, and you can see the reflection of the lights in the middle left.
The idea I had was to paint a group of three pictures of some mountains on an alien planet in the morning, midday, and twilight. I cut a cardboard outline of the mountain peaks so I could pencil on three mountains that looked the same. Then I just played with the background and shading and light.
Not exactly masterpieces, but fun to do, and they brighten up the garage when I am stuffing laundry in the dryer. And alien landscapes tie in so nicely with the theme of this week where I am trying to sell my new boo… NO! I will not do it. You deserve a break.

You’re right we do deserve a break! Love the artwork though, it’ a nice change. Do you think these form ideas for the places in your boo. . .?
No, these predate that which shall not be named.
I spy a book in the side bar of this blog. YAY!
I did that. With some help. It took all day.
HAHA! I know the feeling.
Glad to know I’m not alone.
I like the bottom one the best, the contrast between the red and the alienscape is distinct.
It isn’t my best work, but I like the concept and should do more of them. I haven’t painted in a long time unless you count the tikis I painted and the picture of the Wasp Whip… and that wood burning flower picture I did on the plywood…
Oh, and that watercolor of my mom’s backyard.
I think I like the top one best. It’s more colorful, and makes me think of an eruption.
I love that everybody looks at a picture and sees something a little bit different.
Welcome back to your roots! :). I too like the word “askew”….
Thanks. Some words are just fun to say.
Has my brain started to pick up on yours? They look like mutant embryonic chickens. In the morning, midday and twilight;-)
I never even noticed that but they do!!! I just tried to make mountains that looked a little alien, like maybe from a low gravity planet or something. Good call.
