Benghazi… in a nutshell…

Sending more security to the embassy wouldn’t have stopped the attack…

Embassies on foreign soil are never safe…

They are on foreign soil…

That means they are surrounded by people who may hate the people living and working in them…

If enough of those people decide to overrun the embassy, they are going to do so…

An embassy compound isn’t big enough to hold enough security forces to stop a major attack, so you can’t just put an armored division in there…

If we had sent 10 more people, or 30 more people, they would have died too…

*** On a more personal note, these attacks where a bunch of angry people gang up on someone… wait, maybe I should explain that I am talking about the hearings, not the actual embassy attack here… just make you look like bullies, and Hillary like an underdog courageously standing up for herself. Also, just out of curiosity, if 4 Americans dying in an attack deserves this many hearings, then how many hearings would be justified for almost 3,000 Americans dying in an attack… like on 9/11?***

  1. The hearings were so painful to watch! They kept saying it wasn’t personal but the attacks were SO obviously personal. She handled it exquisitely!

Since there wasn’t a Democratic president or presidential candidate to blame, 9/11 only required one or two congressional investigations.
As for having more security, maybe it would’ve helped, maybe it wouldn’t have, but we’ll never know, because some of the same people investigating Clinton voted against more funding for embassy security.

    Hmmm. What triggered that?

Hmmm. Benghazi wasn’t on my radar until you mentioned it and I looked it up. Are you guys having hearings or something about it?

        • I think it is the 8th hearing. But the republitards just got caught admitting that it was all just to take a few poll numbers away from Clinton… cynical bastards.

          • Paul's avatar Paul says:

That sounds about right. You are a big country with a lot of embassies in dangerous places. It surprised me that Benghazi was brought up as I am sure there are many such difficult situations which I would expect to be dealt with appropriately by the proper authorities. No disrespect intended to those who gave their lives for their nation.

            • There are a lot of places in this world where it is dangerous to be the representatives of the United States… like most of them…

You know I think the US could be more sensitive in its dealings with other countries – and I have been critical of that in the past – but that said, there is no greater force for good in the world than the US either. They have helped the poor, built schools and roads and hospitals, rendered aid in times of need like earthquakes, floods, natural disasters, supplied clean water and housing for those who cannot afford it, defended freedom (albeit not always in an appropriate manner) etc. It is sort of a mixed bag – I could spend pages listing all the negatives or pages listing all the positives. I guess it depends on the day. 😀

              • We are better as individuals than as a whole… or in groups… maybe…

I spent years working in the US – both rural and urban and I would agree with what you just said.

              • That is very supportive of you

I watched a group of lawyers arguing once on TV (it was a slow night) and they were debating rule of law on the open seas – in international waters. And the bottom line is : He who has the biggest guns wins. In other words, you may accuse me of being supportive but I’m really kow-towing to your superior weaponry.

              • I always kow-tow to superior weaponry

I used to haul out of Norfolk Naval Base – Lord Thundering Kitty Cat. When you see armed ships as far as the eye can see and missiles and bombs and air craft carriers and planes and tanks and torpedoes (we used to haul those – Ha!) and submarines – and you realize that this is just one small piece of a huge force – you just turn around and go home. I got the biggest kick out of one of those tin pot African dictators who had come across a crashed US warplane and trumpeted that he had beaten the mighty American Air Force. His country wasn’t big enough to park the whole airforce let alone defeat it.

Rat bastards want to sell marijuana in stores – imagine the nerve. Next thing they’ll be selling beer in the corner stores. m 😀

                Yeah, what next – guns?

              • Paul's avatar Paul says:

I say we go all the way – skip the rifles and single shot pistols and go to UZi’s and AK-47’s and other automatics. What the heck, why not. Imagine the surprise on the Moose’s faces when those auto’s open up. Ha! I saw a sign in rural Quebec the other day that said the store had a sale on Beer,Bullets and Worms. What more could a man want than an automatic to top it all off?

              • I cannot condone drinking and fishing at the same time

You ain’t seen nothing until you’ve fished with beer and dynamite:

It’s kind of a local joke here. I live in Ontario – a mostly English province. We share a provincial border with Quebec – a single language French province. The French have a very different life style. We English are more stiff upper lip, don’t show emotion types and the French are more emotive and expressive. Here in Ontario all alcohol sales, including beer, are controlled by either the province or a cabal of breweries. In Quebec it is possible to buy beer and wine in most corner stores, supermarkets and even gas stations. We, conservative anal English turn up our noses at such loose morals – and then we sneak across the border to drink or buy alcohol when no one is looking. The cops make a fortune every weekend just waiting at the provincial border for the drinkers to head home. Ha! We may be anal but that don’t mean we’re smart.

So, anyway, beer in corner stores is synonymous with loose morals here – or so say the muck-a-mucks.

              • We passed way beyond loose morals some time ago.

It is. Did you hear they just elected a liberal prime minister?

        • List of X's avatar List of X says:

We’re never not having hearings on it. We even found the guy responsible and killed him with a drone (or killed a guy with a drone and said he was responsible), but we’ll never stop having investigations on whether Hillary Clinton dis something wrong.
