Ha…that was a joke…
Those who have bothered to dig into the dim recesses of my blog may recall my mentioning that I am doing the final edit on my sci fi novel… (hence the space bar joke… get it?)… it’s funny on at least two levels.
For this post I am going back to the original idea for this blog, and pouring some of my art out. These are rough character sketches for some of the bizarre aliens that show up in my book. I doubt I will be asked to do my own illustrations… (their loss, if you ask me)… but I am going to throw these out there for your amusement. I am not even going to give you any background on the characters. But I will tell you that that guy up above you was made in Photoshop using a picture of broccoli.
Bear in mind that these are just rough ideas, and not the way the characters will look when they turn my novel into a blockbuster movie.
When you read my novel, and trust me, someday you will, this will all make sense.
Now we are getting into some very rough preliminary drawings. It just helps me to get to know the characters. I like to sketch a new participant to the story. I keep the sketch nearby when I am writing.
It doesn’t even need to be a good picture, because the characters are so alive in my own head.
If you had met and lived with these characters like I did, you would come to know and love them like I do.
I will say this. It is not easy to do sci fi that doesn’t remind you of something that someone else already did. I made up 131 characters and 36 races, and I think they all stand up as unique.
My novel is funny. And I make fun of everything that humans do, including the stuff that some humans will probably wish I would not make fun of. I am very proud of the fact that no one dies in the story, even though there are assassins and an invasion from another dimension.
And I will admit that the main character… (despite many warnings not to do this)… is modeled on me myself. Hell, he is me. Because what our universe really needs is a 51 year old, all-art-side-of-the-brain hero with a sarcastic outlook, a lazy temperament, a strange way of looking at things, a razor wit, unexpected charm, and a whole lot of dumb luck.
Now who do you think they should get to play me in the movie?
That’s what I thought too.

No one can do you the way you can do you. 😉
I should think not!
Dear pmao,
The evil egg is my favourite. That last picture, the one at the bottom of your post, is a bit scary, isn’t it?
Love Dotty xxx
I will have to go back to look to see which one you mean. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast.
The art is really good. I wish I could draw. I also wish that I had the imagination to write a science fiction novel.
I’m guessing Larry the Cable guy should get the starring role.
There is no room in your massive cerebral cortex for such nonsense…
