Just wonder whether most Americans think that Smith ruined that night?
I know a lot of us do. It was just wrong. On the other hand, it is america, so I don’t know how many people think it was a good thing… sigh…

Smith ruined that night for everyone! There were so many firsts for the Academy and the film community in general, and Smith dampened it because his trampy wife got her feelings hurt. I think the Los Angeles district attorney should charge him with assault and at least put him on probation and make him pay a fine.
