Okay… I’m doing it…

I am going to try to do the NaNoWriMo write a whole novel in one month thing… so if I seem even more distracted than usual, it is only because I am… not because the crack squirrels are on a binge.

And I am already starting late. But so many of you have encouraged me to do this, and my daughter Jessica, who helped me publish my science fiction novel but has never read it… because let’s face it, not everyone likes science fiction… not even funny, action adventure science fiction… told me if I wrote something outside my comfort zone she would read it.

So I am going to write a murder mystery set in World War Two London. I don’t know exactly how this NaNoWriMo thing works, but I hope there is some way that some of you can watch my progress and give me feedback.

Oh, and Mollie went on her first date to a high school dance, and I am still a little freaked out about that, but I got over it with Jessica, so…

You can go to: https://nanowrimo.org/ to get the badge & the api so you can update your daily total of words. I’m way behind too because of a migraine on Sunday & messed up doctor’s appointment on Monday, but I’m slugging along. So don’t expect me here too often during November.

This should be for the challenge, Arthur. Just get the ideas down on paper, revise later. I do the NaNoWriMo for a change of pace. I have series books to write, but I take the time out in November to write something I might not normally take the time to write. 😀 For me, it has been a great experience and I plan to do it every year. Just tackle it as something fun to do. Post it or don’t, it’s up to you. Achieve the goal or not, it’s up to you as well. I didn’t make it last year, but made a good dent in a genre I have never written before. Same with this year…but I’m off to a better start than last year. lol

This is the book that explains nanowrimo. It tells the story of the guy who started the whole thing–how he decided to write a novel in a month–and tells you little tips to get past writer’s block, etc, and what expectations to have for the month–like no editing allowed. Just pure writing. Editing can come later if you like. The point is just to pour it all out. You already do that!

I did it a few years ago, no problemo. You already write a ton of words a day, so it’ll be a breeze for someone like you. It’ll be fun!

Sign up at NaNoWriMo.org. You can post excerpts and update your word count, etc. if you don’t want to post here. Good luck!
