On our little adventure in the Bay Area, Mollie and I ended up at one of my favorite places in the world…
High up in the Berkeley hills, above the U.C. Berkeley campus, their is a road called Grizzly Peak Blvd. Only locals know this place even exists. In high school, my friends and I spent many a crazy night on this winding mountain road. It is a great place to ride a motorcycle, I can tell you. The views are spectacular. There may not be a better place to watch a sunset than this, anywhere in the world…
Any time someone comes to town that is not familiar with the Bay Area, I take them here. But first I take them out on the pier at the Berkeley marina, and tell them to imagine that they are a Cheerio floating on the water of the bay… (I don’t bother to get them to pretend that the bay is full of milk, because that would just be silly)… Then, just as the sun is setting, we rush up to Grizzly Peak and I tell them that they are now on the edge of the bowl, floating high above the rest of those poor Cheerios stuck in the bay down below. I admit that this looses something when you just read about it, but if you ever got my special Cheerio tour, it would knock your little wholegrain oat socks right off…
I used to bring a lot of girls here for first dates, because my theory is, if you can’t get kissed here, it ain’t never going to happen…
I saw a lot of beautiful vistas with boys. Now that you mention it, there was kissing involved- whatabunchaplayers!
We have to use the scenery to our advantage. If 12 roses is good, a hillside is better.
Living in a world of impostors and charlatans; wait for it………sigh
Not impostors… romantics who can’t afford a dozen roses at the florist. At the very wort, opportunists…
Okay, romantics, I’ll subscribe to that, much nicer than charlatans and impostors.
I was never a fan of the rich guys the poor guys were more fun.
Opportunists- THAT is a given!
I guess that’s true. Hopefully.
we can still appreciate a view can’t we…….if it’s at least one of our objectives we’re forgiven aren’t we…….
It is all part of biology, if you think about it… hard… ha!
…..i don’t think that was supposed to happen…
It never is.
Nice pics. Great view. I need to get a vacation home.
I even threw in some cloud pictures… peripherally speaking…
